Do you know someone who has experienced anxiety, depression, substance use disorder or another mental health issue? Join us for Mental Health First Aid Training, a free two-session program, to learn how to offer initial help in a mental health crisis.
Participants are trained to identify risk factors and warning signs of mental illnesses and how to connect individuals to the appropriate care. Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate.
Studies have shown that those who are trained in Mental Health First Aid have:
- greater confidence in providing assistance to others;
- increased likelihood of advising people to seek professional help;
- improved agreement with health professionals about treatments;
- decreased stigmatizing attitudes.
Sessions will be held on Wednesdays, July 12th & 19th, from 9:00 to 1:00. Participants must attend Part 1 on the 12th to take part in Part 2 on the 19th. Call the library at 574-946-3432 to sign up for this program.
