Many items that you borrow from the library can be renewed. Renewing extends your item’s loan period, giving you an extended time to finish using the item. We offer two ways to renew your items: manual renewals and automatic renewals.
Renew Your Items Manually
To renew your items, log in to your account using your library card number. You will see a list of the things you currently have on loan. Click 'Renew' next to each item you want to renew. You will see a pop-up message telling you that the item has been renewed and displaying the item's new due date.
If you are renewing multiple items, we encourage you to double-check your list once you’re done to ensure everything was successfully renewed.
If you prefer to use the phone, call the library at 574-946-3432 to renew your items.
Most items, such as books and magazines, can be renewed for up to six weeks. Certain items (DVDs, museum passes, musical instruments, and other unique items) cannot be renewed. See our Circulating Materials and Equipment Periods policy for details about loan periods and renewal limits.
Automatic Renewals
Some items can be automatically renewed if they have not been returned by the end of their loan period.
To enable automatic renewals on your account, you must have a valid email on file with us and must choose to receive email notifications. Contact us if you aren’t sure whether this is enabled on your account or would like to set this up.
Items that are not eligible for renewals (DVDs, Interlibrary Loans, etc.), things that other cardholders have reserved, and items that have reached their maximum number of renewals will not be automatically renewed. See our Circulating Materials and Equipment Periods policy for details about loan periods and renewal limits.
We recommend checking your account to be sure your items have been successfully renewed. The cardholder is responsible for returning items by their due dates to avoid late fees.
