The Pulaski County Public Library is happy to provide resources to help eligible Indiana residents register to vote.
How to Register
Visit https://indianavoters.in.gov/ to register to vote, check your registration status, or update your information. You'll need your driver's license or state I.D. card to register.
In general, you need to register to vote at least 29 days before an election in order to be eligible to vote in that election.
You have the right to vote in Indiana if you are both a U.S. citizen and a resident of Indiana, you will be 18 years of age before the next election, you are not currently in prison after being convicted of a crime, you have lived in your voting precinct for at least 30 days prior to the election, and you have an active voter registration. See the Indiana Secretary of State's website to learn more: https://www.in.gov/sos/elections/voter-information/register-to-vote/
You do not need to declare a party affiliation at the time you register to vote. If you vote in a primary election, you will choose a single party's ballot at that time.
The library can provide paper voter registration applications upon request, but the library is not a drop-off point for paper applications. Your form must be submitted to the county registration office or the Indiana Election Division.
Check Your Status & Update Your Registration
If you've moved, changed your name, or haven't voted in a while, you need to update your voter registration. It's generally a good idea to check your registration in the months before an election, just to make sure your registration is active and accurate.
You can verify your status and update information if necessary at https://indianavoters.in.gov/
National Voter Registration Day
The library participates in National Voter Registration Day every year on the fourth Tuesday of September. On this day, you can come in for personal assistance signing up to vote. That said, we're happy to help you register at any time of the year!
