Make a Lasting Impact: Support Early Literacy in Pulaski County

Your generosity plays a crucial role in bringing the joy of reading to children through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, supported by the Pulaski County Public Library Foundation. Every month, around 350 children under five in our community receive a brand-new book delivered straight to their door, completely free of charge.

This program relies on the Pulaski County Public Library Foundation to serve as its local affiliate and 501(c)(3) partner. Although Imagination Library is offered at no cost to families, there is a local requirement to secure funding for the books and cover shipping fees, making donations crucial to sustaining this impactful initiative. Donations to the Pulaski County Public Library Foundation support our local Imagination Library program.

The success of the Imagination Library in Pulaski County is thanks to the dedication of people like you—community members who spread the word, enroll their children, and contribute as individual donors. Your commitment helps ensure that our young ones have every chance to succeed and enjoy a bright future.

From Mailbox to Bookshelf

Imagination Library books are specially selected age-appropriate, high-quality titles. The first book a child receives is The Little Engine That Could. The month a child turns five years old, they will receive Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come! A full list of this year’s books can be found on the Imagination Library website.

These books are delivered to registered children each month from birth to age five. Each one is personalized with the child’s name and mailed directly to the child’s home. This effort creates a gifting experience making books exciting and shows the child someone is thinking of them.

Opening Imaginations

Since launching locally in 2018, the program has sent 17,771 books to 732 local children, and it continues to grow with new registrations each month. This initiative thrives because of the unwavering support from the Pulaski County Public Library staff, who manage and promote the program with enthusiasm and care. In addition to the Imagination Library, the Pulaski County Public Library offers various early literacy programs to nurture a love of reading from the earliest age.

All funding for this vital program comes from local donations, while the library handles the operational and administrative aspects.

Please help us continue to enrich our community and foster early literacy by donating to the Pulaski County Public Library Foundation. Your support makes a world of difference for our children and their future.
