PCPL Foundation – Case for Support

The Pulaski County Public Library offers the community "More Than You'd Expect" from a public library. In addition to books, the library serves as the area's only community center. It provides a variety of meeting spaces, events for all ages, connections to social services, shelter from extreme weather, and a space where everyone is welcome. By expanding access to information and providing lifelong learning opportunities for residents of all ages and stages of life, the Pulaski County Public Library strengthens our community. Most of the things that make our library an exceptional place are made possible because of financial support from donors.

A strong public library is at the heart of a strong community. Build on the momentum.

The mission of the Pulaski County Public Library is to continually improve our service to the patrons of our library district. We seek to provide a comprehensive collection of materials in a wide variety of formats. Our intent is to enrich our patrons' lives educationally and recreationally. Our Library is more than a building of books; it's a gateway to ideas and possibility.

The Pulaski County Public Library Foundation seeks to build assets to fund current and future library projects while helping to secure the long-term future of the Pulaski County Public Library.

Providing a Pathway, Creating Opportunity, Advancing Together

Because of the Pulaski County Public Library…

  • children develop a love of reading by attending programs like Story Time, participating in extended programs like Summer Learning, and choosing books to take home and read with parents or on their own;
  • people can take part in unique experiences they might not otherwise have access to, from attending artistic programs and events to checking out a fishing pole or violin to borrowing a pass to an Indiana museum or zoo;
  • county residents find community and connection, whether through regular programs like Coffee & Conversation and Book Club or everyday interactions with fellow library patrons and staff;
  • people, regardless of ability, have access to media and resources – whether in-person, online, with curbside pickup, or through doorstep delivery;
  • people can access free, high-speed Wi-Fi 24/7 inside or outside the library and the West Side Center in Medaryville.
  • community members continue their education, no matter what stage of life they're in, whether through physical materials or online classes and resources;
  • local students, parents, and entrepreneurs use technology to meet their goals, whether through printing & copying needed papers, accessing resources using the library's Internet, or attending virtual classes
  • all members of the community can come to a safe, welcoming space where staff are available to connect them with their next great book or movie, social services from mental health support to voter registration, and information and resources that enable them to grow, learn, flourish, and thrive.

Your Library. Your Legacy. Your support is essential.

Tax dollars fund the primary Library operations such as building maintenance, basic collection purchases, and staff salaries. Private donations are used to offer public programming, improve library spaces, purchase technology, expand collections, and fuel community innovation. By making a gift to the Pulaski County Public Library Foundation, you are helping to ensure the Library can continue to meet and exceed the community's needs, now and in the future.
