Did you know that the Tippecanoe River used to be home to the largest population of clubshell mussels in the world? Currently, mussel populations in the Tippecanoe River are declining. The clubshell, fanshell, rabbitsfoot, rayed bean, sheepnose, and snuffbox mussels are federally listed as endangered or threatened species. If nothing is done to protect these animals, we might lose them from the Tippy forever. To learn more about the imperiled mussels in the Tippecanoe River, visit HeartoftheTippy.org and the new watershed exhibit focusing on water quality and freshwater mussels at the Pulaski County Public Library. Please join us for the unveiling on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 pm. (The library will remain open until 7:00 for this event.) The exhibit will be open for viewing at the library until May 13th.
